UPDATE - 12 February 2020: the Mesopotamia footpath is now open again after the damage to the riverbank was addressed. We apologise for any inconvenience its closure caused.
During the recent heavy rain and subsequent flooding, parts of the bank alongside the Mesopotamia footpath were washed away. This means the path has had to be shut for reasons of safety, including the gateway at the end of Kings Mill Lane.
The Parks team are working with our colleagues to come up with a suitable repair plan. They are currently awaiting materials that will let them temporarily fence off the areas that could pose a risk to the public; and once the safety fence is installed, the path will reopen. Apologies for any inconvenience.
