An update on the Coronavirus from the University Parks team

To help us keep the Park open for as long as possible, it is crucial that visitors respect social distancing measures in accordance with the latest government guidelines: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

  • There should be no gatherings of any more than 2 people (unless you are all from the same household)
  • You should stay at least 2 metres apart from anyone outside of your household
  • If walking your dog in areas used by other people, you should walk your dog on a lead to ensure you can safely keep 2 metres away from others.

When running:

  • Please give way to walkers at all times.

  • Please pass others with care and give as much space as possible.

  • Please refrain from spitting.

Mesopotamia Walk will be open as normal for the time being, however the pathway is very narrow and maintaining a safe social distance will be very difficult when meeting other parties coming from the opposite direction, so please be aware.

It should also be pointed out that no organised sports are likely to take place in the University Parks for the foreseeable future. For more details regarding Oxford University Sport and the impact of the outbreak on their facilities, please visit: sport.ox.ac.uk/coronavirus.

Due to the government guidance around social distancing and discouraging large crowds, some of the events that were scheduled to be held in the Parks this spring have been postponed.

Providing visitor numbers remain low and the guidance is followed, the Parks will continue to provide a large open space where visitors can come for a walk or run to help boost their wellbeing during these difficult times, while maintaining a safe social distance.
