The entrance into the University Parks opposite Keble will be temporarily closed next week so that contractors can resurface the cycle path that runs along Parks Road just outside.
The gates will not open on the morning of Monday 30 April and will stay closed until the normal opening time on the morning of Saturday 5 May while contractor Laing O’Rourke lays a concrete foundation and then finishes the cycle path with kerbs and asphalt.
The entranceway was formerly occupied by the Keble Gates, but these have been removed and will eventually be re-installed slightly closer to the Physics department’s new Beecroft building as part of the landscaping around it. In the meantime, a temporary entrance has been created in the old gates’ location, and this is what will be closed next week. At the same time as the cycle path, Laing O’Rourke will also resurface the new entrance area outside the Beecroft.
