A recent Town and Gown event in the Parks coincided with the Inter-Varsity American Football match, as well as a big cricket match, leaving the Parks with an extremely busy weekend!
The Bidwell's Oxford 10K run was held to benefit Muscular Dystrophy UK and saw 6,600 runners of all ages taking part, including a kids’ 3K run.
In total, 5,133 runners crossed the finish line for the 10K, and 535 junior runners completed the course. The male winner crossed the line at 32.54, with the winning female finishing at 38.35.
This year, an additional 1,000 runners were able to take part, all helping to contribute to the more than £280,000 that was raised for the charity – an amount that looks set to reach their target of £300K with outstanding donations due.
And the excellent work by the Parks team continued when two days later there was absolutely no evidence of the site having taken such a hammering, demonstrating the importance of good organisation.
A huge congratulations to our Parks team and especially to Kate Hutchinson, their Events and Administration Manager, for a job extremely well done.
And as it was so much fun…they’re already looking forward to next year (Sunday 10 May 2026)!
