Sternbergia lutea

The Sternbergia lutea brightens the gloom on a dull autumn day with its bright yellow crocus like flowers. More commonly known as the winter daffodil or lily of the field, this Mediterranean native can grow to about 150mm tall.

Dotted along the North Walk in University Parks, these glorious golden-coloured flowers are the perfect partner to the Persian Ironwood tree which featured on Tuesday 1 November.
