Plant of the Week

Cistus ladanifer, also known as the Gum Cistus, can be found on the North Walk of the University Parks. An interesting and free flowering shrub with sticky leaves, it produces handsome white flowers throughout June and July. The plant prefers refers free drainage and a sheltered, sunny, position and was introduced from south-west Europe and North Africa in 1629. There are 20 species of Cistus, commonly known as sun roses.
