Paper Bark Maple

The small Acer griseum tree boasts tactile, cinnamon-coloured, peeling bark, hence the common name, Paper Bark Maple. It makes a perfect small garden tree as translucent sections of the thinnest layers of peeling bark stay attached to the tree giving year-round interest, but especially during the winter. Located in the Napper’s Arable area of University Parks, the foliage is a bold green, turning a firework display of colours from pink to bright red before falling in the autumn.
