Plant of the Week

The Mount Etna Broom (Genista aetnensis) is one of the largest of the broom family, a tall graceful plant with few leaves but many lovely flowers. A member of the pea family (Leguminosae) that is native to Sardinia and Sicily, the plant likes free-draining soil with lots of sunshine. There are 80 species of the Genista family, all of them native to Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa. They range enormously in size and shape.
