Lacecap (Hydrangea aspera Villosa)

The Lacecap (Hydrangea aspera Villosa) is an elegant, colourful, summer-flowering, deciduous shrub that you can see in the border next to the University Parks croquet lawn. It produces handsome foliage and beautiful, richly-coloured flowers, and is one of the joys of July and August. Native to the Himalayas, southern China and Taiwan, the plant likes a shade with moist soil – it’s the perfect choice in shady spots where it won’t have much competition.
