Calceolaria integrifolia

At the moment you can see Calceolaria integrifolia, the Bush Slipperwort, adorning the Hayrick border near the entrance from South Parks Road. It is a very free-flowering evergreen dwarf shrub that adds a cheerful splash of bright yellow to the border. Native to Chile and introduced to the UK in 1822, it is borderline hardy in British conditions but needs free-draining soil and protection in cold winters. The plant produces such a joyful profusion of flowers that it is worth the effort, though.
